Today more than ever people are recognizing the importance of caring for our natural and cultural heritage.
Fortunately for the people of two counties in Eastern Ontario, Canada a small dedicated group of volunteers has come together to form the Hastings Prince Edward Land Trust (HPELT) .
A Land Trust is often considered as a local area's land management coordinator, helping landowners care for their wetlands, forests, farmland, endangered species or wildlife habitat areas that are so important to them. HPELT was created to do just that. The Trust will work with landowners to seek creative ways of protecting special places and firmly believes that the best way of accomplishing this goal is to work cooperatively with all involved.

The counties of Prince Edward and Hastings have a diversity of wild places and historical landscapes stretching from the shores of Lake Ontario to Algonquin Park. The land provides a home for unique flora and fauna and has shaped our cultural heritage.
As a community-based, volunteer-run, charitable organization, Hastings Prince Edward Land Trust is dedicated to safeguarding these special places through education, land acquisition and land management. The Trust also supports scientific research projects that contribute to this goal.
If you are interested in helping us protect this wonderful and unique part of Canada you can help either through a donation or by becoming a member of the Hastings Prince Edward Land Trust. We'd love to hear from you!
